Week Eight: Thoughts About Child Development
The video above is of my son and daughter playing an organ when they were 3 and 1. I love to watch this from time to time to see how their play has evolved as well as the developmental differences between their ages/stages; I especially love the part where my daughter experiments with with the sounds that she can make by sitting on the keys with her bottom and her knees. My son, who was older and more "mature", sang a silly song but played the organ appropriately with his fingers.

Fascinating how your daughter discovered how to play on an organ her way. And your son was very resilient in his efforts to continue to play using his fingers. Experimenting is the most rewarding approach for children to learn.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your video! I think your quotes go a long great with your personal experiences of your children playing. I am glad I got to look into your insights and opinions during our class together. I hope we will be able to work together again during our time at Walden.
ReplyDeleteI love the video, it does epitomize exploration and play and how our children learn and grow! They are both so sweet. I want to say it was great getting to know you over this semester, I enjoyed learning about your daughter and your experiences with her sensory processing issues. I wish you the best as you continue to navigate your way through this joyous journey of life as a working mom attending school!! Good luck and hope to encounter you in the future.
ReplyDeleteErica the video was cute and your quotes the one about children accomplish milestones in their own way and time is true children do like to do things their way and in their own time I have noticed in children that when you tell them to do something sometime they do it when they want to and not when you tell them.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed getting to know you in this class I hope you the best in your future
